LearnDash Consultant on CRMs for Powering an Elegant User Experience
Having worked as a LearnDash consultant for many years, I want to explain why you might want to consider adding a CRM to your LearnDash technology stack. LearnDash, WooCommerce and Wordpress work just fine without a CRM. It's an ideal platform for making your online course available to your members. You get most of the features you need. Do a little searching for "LearnDash" in my blog and you'll get a ton of information on all that's possible.
So what are you missing out on because you don't have a CRM.
When my team and I come in with our LearnDash consultant expertise, we focus on building your course. We make sure people can purchase it and gain access to it. We focus a lot on the sales journey and the experience members gets when they login and work through the content you provide them. All that is good.
What you don't get without a CRM is:
- easy visibility into what your members are doing,
- improved communication with your members and
- automation.
Let me give you a few examples to illustrate.
LearnDash Consultant Scenario Number 1
Let me start with a simple one. Assume your members has successfully purchased your course, they have been sent their login credentials along with a welcome message. How do you easily detect that your member has logged in? How can you get visibility into what your members are doing? How can take action if a members is going slowly through your course or racing through it?
Without a CRM, you are going to have to do some work. If you have your site working with a CRM like Keap/Infusionsoft or ActiveCampaign, you can do this easily with a few tags and some automation.
We typically create an automation that sends out the members welcome message with login credentials after they purchase. We then schedule a series of message that get sent out the first week or two afterward checking to see if they have logged in. If they person does login, that series of messages gets interrupted and the member never sees them.
However, if the members doesn't login, those message go out. The tone and urgency of them goes up if they continue to NOT login. You can also notify someone on your team to take some sort of action if the member continues to NOT login. This would be very difficult without a CRM.
LearnDash Consultant Scenario #2
Let's take this scenario a bit further. Suppose you have a student that is making progress through your course at a brisk pace. This is a sign that you have a very active learner and possibly one that might want to make use of other resources you make available. You can set timers in a CRM to observe the members pace and sent messages out to the members congratulating them for their progress and potentially to upsell them on other services you offer.
If the person is making progress too slowly, this means they are logging in but not progressing quickly, you can send out message asking them if they are needing assistance. You can ask them if there are particular issues that are keeping them from making the most of your program.
LearnDash Consultant on Using a CRM to Humanize the Experience
These are two simple examples. With a little imagination and an understanding of what a CRM with a Memberium plugin can accomplish, you can members a feeling that they are being actively supported by you the site owner. As you send out messages to your members, you can provide encouragement and support to your members so they "feel" they are being supported by you.
Members purchased your course to learn something that helps them accomplish their goals. It's not learning for learning's sake. Through well crafted questions you can pose to your members as they travel through your course, you can get information from them and customize your course, and the entire Wordpress site for that matter, so it adjusts based on what you learn. You can work to add AI like features to the site so it learns as the member shares more and more with you.
I share this because after 14+ years working with Keap/Infusionsoft specifically and other CRMs since then, I've seen what course builders have needed over the years and making use of features provided by CRM platforms, you can provide more than just a learning experience, but a personal connection with your members to improve their satisfaction with what they purchased and getting them to do more and more business with you to to accomplish their goals.
